Artist's Comments

Yeah I felt guilty for not really doing anything on here lately.... so anyway here's a postcard I designed for a local pro-choice lobby day. The woman's figure is entirely painted with the word "choice" implying that if you take away her choice she'll have nothing left of herself.

If you take away all choices, yes. So let's just take a fringe choice which is harmful to more people. Let's say, abortion? She will still have the choices to drive, vote, what to eat, drink, who to marry, what to wear, countless others... Let's just take away a harmful option. Murder is taken away as an option, after all... and theft. And driving drunk is no longer a choice we can make...

Fringe choice that is harmful to more people, huh? And whom does abortion hurt exactly? Because it's very difficult for me to consider anything without a functioning cerebral cortex a "person". Anyway, you're arguing semantics. Pro-Choice and Pro-Life are the terms commonly used to describe the two opposing sides of the abortion debate.

Gorgeous, I love the message. The colors you chose are outstanding and go well together. Great job!

The brain isn't fully developed until the weeks after birth. There are also people born with brain conditions who probably would not fit into that narrow definition of "personhood."
You should read Peter Kreeft's The Unaborted Socrates. It's the best book I've ever read about this subject. Here's a link to where you can get it from Amazon.
